Setup/Installation
How do I install my camera?
Here is a helpful installation video:

You can also visit the linxCam Rear Vision installation page as well!
Are there common mounting locations for the Rear Vision device?
For linxCam Rear Vision, generally the best mounting locations are on the mechanical arm of a garbage truck, on the back of a trailer, arm of a tow truck, attached to the rear bumper or the top of a delivery van. The mounting location you choose is heavily dependent on vehicle type and your particular use case. For linxCam Rear Vision Slimline, the best mounting location is at the top of the license plate.
Can I attach the camera to a trailer if the trailer moves regularly between vehicles?
Technically, yes. However, leaving any open connections exposed to weather conditions could result in a malfunction of the auxiliary camera. Use of a cord cover or anything that protects the exposed connection is highly recommended.
Can I have more than one Rear Vision device on one vehicle?
No, there can only be one Rear Vision device per linxCam/per vehicle.
Do I need to activate my Rear Vision device?
No activation is required! You simply need to assign your Rear Vision device to the linxCam you want to pair it with.
What is the longest cable you offer? What do I do if the cable I have isn't long enough?
We have 7m, 9m and 13m cables available. Although it's not recommended, you can also “daisy-chain” two cables together to create a longer cable. You must ensure the connection is secure and free from moisture, dirt, etc.
Using Your Camera
Can I just add a Rear Vision camera to my existing tracking service?
No, having a linxCam paired with your tracking device is required. The Rear Vision camera plugs directly into the linxCam that is in the cabin of the vehicle.
Will I need to add additional SD card storage when adding a Rear Vision camera to my vehicle?
No, the Rear Vision device uses the linxCam's existing storage. We do offer SD card upgrade kits, if needed.
Is the Rear Vision channel of video high definition?
No. The Rear Vision camera provides video in D1 resolution, which is standard definition 720 × 576. This is sufficient to solve the primary problems (rear visibility, exoneration, proof of service) while preserving linxCam storage and keeping data costs low.
Can I view all three streams of video simultaneously?
For videos stored in the cloud — yes, all three streams will be viewable simultaneously. Real-time live-stream is per channel.
Can I use the Rear Vision camera as a traditional “backup camera”?
No, the Rear Vision camera doesn't function as a backup camera as that requires a separate monitor in the cabin of the vehicle.
