How do I activate my Dash Cam and pair it to a device?

NOTE: It is important to install your camera before you activate it.

                            1. If you are also setting up a new GPS tracker, follow the instructions for the Activation and Installation for the tracker.
                            2. If the GPS tracker is already activated, follow these instructions:
                              • Take note of your camera’s serial number. The serial number of your camera is also the activation code. It can be found on the box, on the bottom of your camera, or on the start up screen when you turn the camera on.
                              • Log in to your portal.
                              • Click ‘Setup’ > ‘Add a New Tracker’ > Select ‘Camera.’
                              • Enter the 11-digit serial number and click ‘Continue.’

Cameras can be paired to a tracker 2 different ways:

                            From Tracker Setup:

                            • Click the drop-down under ‘Camera’ and choose which camera to assign to the tracker.
                            • Click ‘Save.’

How do I install my camera?

First, be sure to power on and activate your camera.

                            1. Supply Power to Tracking Device and Camera
Look under the steering wheel to find the OBDII port and plug in the Y splitter. Plug in the OBD tracker and the camera’s OBD power adapter into either end of the Y splitter. Next, use the flexible cable ties to secure the cable under your dashboard and prevent any slack from hanging in the footwell.

                            1. Tuck Stick
Route the cable up the doorjamb to the windshield and extend it past the center of the dashboard. Use the Tuck Stick to hide the cable in the gap between the dashboard and windshield.
Image of the cable inserted into the suction beam on the dashboard
                            1. Suction Beam
Select a tail length (we recommend the 5” to start) and slide it onto the arm. Insert the cable ball into the beam and route the cable down to the notch on the tail. Center the beam on the dashboard and gently push the tail against the windshield. Moisten the suction cup. Lift and push the suction cup against the windshield using your thumb, then push the lever to securely lock in place.
We recommend using the shortest tail possible, so the driver has the best view forward. Longer tails may be needed to achieve the best inside camera view.

Plug the cable into the camera and mount it onto the beam. Use the Tuck Stick to tidy up any loose cable on the dashboard.

                            Hardwired Installation

This hardwired installation kit includes an adaptor that attaches to the Dash Cam's OBD power cable and can be wired to a vehicle's 12 volt electrical system.

All connections should be made in accordance with established automotive standards and should not be exposed to the elements. The Dash Cam is not weatherproof.

                            1. Locate a constant power source in the cab of the vehicle. The constant power source needs to have a minimum of 12 volts when ignition is off. The camera will power down if the voltage falls below 12 volts.
                            2. Connect the red wire to the constant power source.
                            3. locate a suitable grounding point. This is typically a chassis bolt that goes through the metal in the vehicle or an existing fastener on a metal bracket.
                            4. connect the black wire to the grounding point making sure that the wire is secure.
                            5. connect the Dash Cam OBD power cable to the power supply making sure the connectors are tucked up and out of the way. If necessary, use a zip-tie or other cable management device to ensure there is no stress on the wire connections.

How do I pair my camera to a device or change which device it's assigned to?

During activation you will have an opportunity to pair your camera with a specific device. You can also change this pairing and/or unassign cameras on either the Map or Setup pages.

NOTE: Please ensure you save all footage you need before unpairing and repairing the camera. Unpairing the camera erases footage on the camera.

To pair a camera or change the device the camera is paired to:

                            • On the Map page:
                              • Click on the tracker with assigned camera in the tracker list on the left.
                              • Click the edit button (pencil icon) next to the tracker name.
                              • In the pop-up window, click the drop-down for ‘Assigned Camera’ and choose unassign to unpair a camera, or choose a camera to assign to a tracker.

                            • On the Setup page:
                              • Go to Tracker Setup.
                              • Click the edit button for the tracker you want to change.

                            Stand Alone Dash Cam

What is the difference between the Dash Cam with GPS and the Stand Alone Dash Cam?

The Dash Cam with GPS requires a separate GPS device to pair the camera with on the portal. The Dash Cam and the GPS device are installed separately in the vehicle.

The Stand Alone Dash Cam requires only the camera and the ProCable, which serves as the GPS device.

How does the Stand Alone Dash Cam operate?

Stand Alone Dash Cam operates like a vehicle tracker and a camera.

When ignition is on, the Stand Alone Dash Cam reports to the portal at 1 minute intervals and the camera will be in active recording mode.

The camera will report idle activity when ignition is on and the vehicle is not moving.

If the vehicle ignition is on and the camera has not moved for approximately 10 minutes, it will transition from active mode to guard mode. Movement returns the camera back to active mode.

What alerts does the Stand Alone Dash Cam capture?

The Stand Alone Dash Cam shows driver behavior events and alerts.

Speeding, Harsh Braking, and Rapid Acceleration appear in route replay and on the Alerts tab.

Harsh Braking and Rapid Acceleration alerts will automatically send video to the cloud and be visible on the Videos tab and the Alerts tab.

                            What are User Generated Videos?

Users can create custom video clips of 20 seconds in length that are automatically sent to the cloud. These clips include video captured 10 seconds before and 10 seconds after the button is pressed.

For example the driver can press the button, speak the name of the clip (for example, “that truck cut me off”) and the video will be saved with that phrase as the title to the cloud.

How do I record a clip?

Video clips start 10 seconds prior to beginning recording and continue for 10 seconds after saying, "OK Presto."

                            1. While driving, say "OK Presto" when you need to start recording.
                            2. When you hear the beep, name your clip by saying a short title (example: "That truck ran a red light").
                            3. Clips are automatically available in the portal or app under Videos.

The Extended Clips feature allows users to retrieve videos of up to 10 minutes in length when necessary.

                            What is Live View?

Live view provides a real-time look of both the interior cab as well as the road in front of the vehicle.

This gives you immediate visibility into current passengers, traffic conditions, landmarks and anything happening both inside and out of the vehicle.

Snapshot allows the user to instantly capture a still image of what is happening both inside and outside of the vehicle.

This can be used for documentation, to verify current passengers, see traffic conditions or any monitor activities happening inside or outside of the vehicle.

How many hours of video can I record?

The camera records and holds about 40 hours of video on a rolling basis. As the camera records more footage, the oldest footage gets overwritten.

NOTE: Ensure to save any video you need as soon as possible to avoid the camera overwriting the footage. If you are concerned about the camera overwriting the footage you need, remove the camera from power until you are ready to download the video.

Is my camera always recording? What is Guard Mode?

The camera is always actively recording when the vehicle ignition is on. After 5 minutes of the ignition being off, the camera enters Guard Mode and a green light on the back of the camera will blink.

                            • Movement Alert: If Movement is detected in or around the vehicle, the camera is triggered to “wake up” from Guard Mode and capture video, which is added to your Alerts. You can pair this alert with on-camera video using ‘Check for On-Camera Video’ in your Alerts rail.

As long as your dash cam is plugged into the vehicle, you will be protected 24/7.
